Student Consumer Information

The US Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, requires all institutions of higher education, who receive federal student aid, to make student consumer information available to all enrolled and prospective students. This page is a central resource for required consumer information.

Notice Of Availability of Institutional and Financial Aid Information to Enrolled Students

Consumer Information

First Institute will provide a paper copy for any of the Consumer Information listed on the webpage and its links, upon request. To request additional information or a paper copy, email emailing Katie Postelnick, Compliance Administrator at kpostelnick@firstinstitute.edu or by sending a letter to the same at First Institute, 790 S. McHenry Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014.

Financial Aid Disclosure

In compliance with federal law, First Institute annually distributes to all enrolled student a notice of the availability of the information that is required to be made available to students under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) and under Section 485(a)(1), Section 485(f), Section 485(g), Section 485(h) and Section 485(j) and as amended by the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 (HEOA). All inquiries for information or questions for enrolled or prospective students in obtaining financial aid assistance should contact Darrell Russell, Director of Financial Aid at 815-459-3500 x302 or drussell@firstinstitute.edu.

The notice is distributed annually to each enrolled student and contains a brief description of the various disclosures with links to obtain the full disclosures. The notification method is sent to students via email directing students to view the dedicated Consumer Information page and is also available to students through First Institute’s learning management system in Student Resources.

Professional Judgement

Students may pursue an adjustment to their financial aid packages based on special or unusual circumstances. The institution shall consider and evaluate all requests for adjustment on a case-by-case basis, and its determination will be final
