How do I apply for financial assistance?

In order to apply for Federal Student Aid (FSA), you’ll need to create an FSA ID. Your FSA ID credentials will permit you to access certain U.S. Department of Education websites and forms. When creating your FSA ID, the information you submit will need to be confirmed with the Social Security Administration (SSA); while this process is normally instantaneous, it can take up to 1-3 business days. For more information on the FSD ID or to start the process yourself, visit the Federal Student Aid site.

On the application, you will be asked for a school code, if you would like First Institute to receive your processed FAFSA information, please use code below:

School Code is 025849

If you find that you’d like some extra guidance, First Institute’s financial aid staff can also assist you with completing your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to acquire your FSA ID, user name, and password.

It takes approximately 3 business days from the date that you submit the FAFSA, for the school to receive it. If you haven’t already done so, we strongly encourage you to schedule an appointment with our admissions office during this time. Once we receive your FAFSA we will contact you to provide you with your eligibility information.

NOTE: You do NOT have to apply for an FSA ID or fill out the FAFSA before you visit First Institute, it’s up to you. If you want to start exploring your financial aid opportunities, you’ve got that option, but we’re also happy to help you every step of the way.
